Gulfstream Aerospace announced that it has delivered its 550th G550 aircraft, proving that this is one of the most popular business jets.
According to Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream, this landmark delivery confirms the sustained demand for the G550, which is one of the most dependable planes in the world. The G550’s best-in-category payload and range have given it an enduring reputation as a versatile plane for business aviation and a perfect platform for special missions.
The G550 is equipped with two Rolls-Royce BR710-C4-11 engines, which give it the longest range in its category.
It can effortlessly carry 19 passengers, and is capable of flying eight passengers and four crew members 6,750 nm / 12,501 km nonstop, linking London with Los Angeles at Mach 0.85 or New York with Dubai at Mach 0.80.
The Gulfstream G550 has accumulated over 50 city-pair speed records after it entered service in 2003. This includes Beijing to New York in a little less than 14 hours and London to Tokyo in a little over 11 hours.
The G550 was the first Gulfstream to feature the PlaneView flight deck. This twinjet was awarded the Robert J. Collier Trophy for its safety and technological advances.
